Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is one of the finest and most renowned universities in India, located in the cultural and educational hub of Pune, Maharashtra. With a sprawling 411-acre campus, the university has been a beacon of knowledge and innovation for over seven decades.

Our Legacy and Vision

The university was established on 10th February 1949 under the Poona University Act. Originally named University of Poona, it was later renamed in 2014 in honor of Savitribai Phule, a prominent social reformer and pioneer of women's education in India.

Our vision is to be a globally recognized institution of higher learning that promotes academic excellence, fosters innovation, and contributes to the development of society through education and research.

The university offers a wide spectrum of academic programs at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels through its 46 academic departments and more than 750 affiliated colleges and institutions. We have over 700,000 students enrolled across all programs, making us one of the largest universities in India.
